It looks like Serbian football manager Sinisa Mihajlovic is changing tack with the pre match psychological game ahead of his sides visit to Zagreb’s Maksimir stadium when they take on Croatia in a World Cup qualifier next month.
Mihajlovic’s initial confidence is slowly diminishing, well publically at least.
“The match against Croatia in 1999 was the favourite of my career. The draw took us to the European Championship. Did I recall Stankovic (part of 1999 side) because of that? No, of course not. If I did then I would put myself in the starting 11. Croatia, like any other side, has its faults. But, they are a better side than us and any result other than a Croatia victory in Zagreb would be a huge surprise, Not for me, but for the public of course,” said Mihajlovic.
More than 3,000 security staff will be patrolling in and around Maksimir stadium on 22 March when the match is played.
