Šimunić Supporters Bombard FIFA

FIFAThousands of Croatian fans have taken their anger out over Josip Šimunić’s 10-match suspension, ban from entering the stadium for any of Croatia’s matches in Brazil, and £20,700 fine, by bombarding FIFA’s official Facebook page...

Šimunić was slapped with the career-ending punishment on Monday for ‘discriminatory behaviour’ after Croatia’s victory against Iceland in Zagreb last month, and fans have shown their support by attacking FIFA’s Facebook page. Underneath most of FIFA’s posts on the page, which has over 500 thousand fans, Croats have left thousands of messages showing their disgust at the decision. Croatia’s coach Niko Kovač has already expressed his shock at FIFA’s decision. Hundreds of thousands have also turned to social media petitions to force FIFA into a U-turn. Šimunić has hired a German-based lawyer to appeal the ban.
