28 April 2019 – Croatian tennis player Petra Martić (28) has claimed her first ever WTA title on Sunday in Turkey.

Martić came from a set down to beat Markéta Vondroušová from the Czech Republic in the final of the Istanbul Open on Sunday.

Vondroušová (19) started stronger of the two and took the opening set 6-1 before it was all Martić. The Croatia would claim the next set 6-4 before running away with the third set 6-1 for her first ever title.

It had been a great week for Martić who was the sixth seed in Instanbul. This was her third WTA final and her first title.
