FIFA fines Croatian Football Federation 50,000 Swiss francs

ZAGREB, 7 December 2022 – FIFA has fined the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) today following an investigation they opened for fan behaviour after the World Cup group match against Canada, the federation has confirmed.

The FIFA Disciplinary Commission made a decision to punish the Croatian Football Federation for the behaviour of some fans at the FIFA World Cup match against Canada.

HNS was fined 50,000 Swiss francs for the inappropriate behaviour of some fans (inappropriate chanting and use of banners with inappropriate content) in the match against Canada played on November 27, the statement read on the HNS website. 

FIFA opened proceedings on the basis of articles 13 and 16 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code after Canada goalkeeper Milan Borjan was subjected to what they considered abusive banners, songs and verbal insults during Croatia’s 4-1 victory over Canada.
