Top 10 most popular dog breeds in Croatia

From the iconic German Shepherd to the charming Miniature Schnauzer, daily 24sata has revealed the breeds capturing the hearts of Croatian dog lovers. 

The list of the top 10 most popular dog breeds in Croatia is based on data from the Croatian Kennel Club, according to the number of pedigrees issued in 2023 for puppies with pedigrees registered with the Croatian Kennel Club.

“The German Shepherd, which is convincingly at the top of the list, is surely the most well-known dog breed in Europe. One of the reasons is the versatile purpose of this breed used by state services for various purposes, as well as by private individuals, either for specific tasks or as family pets. The German Shepherd is also a breed that has appeared in various movies in the past and still does today, as well as in other particularly electronic media,” Bojan Mataković, the secretary of the Croatian Kennel Club, told 24sata.
