Croatia has become a desired filming location for international film productions over the last decade. 

One of the most popular movie locations in the country is Dubrovnik. The southern Dalmatian city has attracted a number of movie productions, including recently Star Wars and Robin Hood. 

Dubrovnik has also been included on a list of the 50 most beautiful movie locations in the world by Big 7 travel. 

“Dubrovnik is best known as the King’s Landing in the hit HBO series, Game of Thrones, but it’s also a popular location for blockbuster movies. Most recently, it was transformed into medieval Nottingham in the Robin Hood movie starring Jamie Foxx, Jamie Dornan and Taron Egerton,” Big 7 wrote.

The list of the 50 most beautiful movie locations across the globe, which took into account the ‘wow-factor’ of the setting, its importance and impact on the scene, overall fame of the movie itself and unique features, also included Angkor Thom, in Cambodia (Lara Croft), Salzburg in Austria (The Sound of Music), Skiathos in Greece (Mamma Mia) and Savoca in Italy (The Godfather). 

Dubrovnik also played the backdrop to Lionsgate’s meta action-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent starring Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal and Bliss, starring Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek. 

The city also acted as Jerusalem for the HBO’s film “Oslo”.
