Country’s Best Amateur Football Side Off to Brazil

Croatia5-a-side football team ‘Azijski Hendikep’ from the city of Rijeka are off on an all expenses paid trip to Brazil to watch the World Cup after winning the Ožujsko Cup, and being named the best amateur ‘mali nogomet’ (small football) side in Croatia…

Azijski Hendikep beat Hrkljuš from Osijek last night in the final of the cup in Zadar after 16 qualifying tournaments had taken place around the country. Third place went to Zagreb side Stolarija Ban. Former Croatian international Dario Šimić was the tournaments ambassador and presented the winners with their prize after what was a tense final.

Popular singer Severina entertained the crowd after the final late into the night. It is the 5th year in the row that the Ožujsko Cup has been held, which is a competition open to all amateur 5-a-side teams in the country.
