British TV series The Ipcress File begins filming in Croatia

A new six-part TV series based on the classic Cold War spy novel “The Ipcress File” begun filming in Croatia yesterday.

Images showed filming taking place on Zrinjevac in the capital Zagreb on Thursday. Zagreb is playing 1960s Berlin in the series.

The new spy thriller, which has been commissioned for ITV, features Joe Cole, Lucy Boynton and Tom Hollander, who plays spymaster Major Dalby, in the main roles.

Thee series is being directed by Emmy award-winner James Watkins.

The series, which is based on the world renowned Len Deighton novel which has sold over 10 million copies worldwide since it was first published in 1962, will be produced by Paul Ritchie (McMafia, Slumdog Millionaire).

Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek was also spotted in Zagreb on Thursday. Malek and girlfriend Lucy Boynton were seen sharing a drink on the terrace of popular Zagreb hotel Esplanade.

Filming in Croatia will last until mid-June with the filming also set to take place in Split, Rijeka and Opatija, Jutarnji list revealed.

Filming also has taken place in the UK for the six-part series which is set to be broadcast later this year.
