Ćorić, who first met Murray in a Davis Cup encounter in Croatia two years ago, took the first set 6:1 after breaking the Scot twice in what turned out to be a comfortable first set. Ćorić matched his more experienced opponent in the second set as the Australian Open finalist raised his game a notch. A break however in the 6th game of the set proved to be the difference, handing the young Croatian the match 6:1, 6:3 in 1 hour and 20 minutes.
It is Ćorić’s second major scalp, after he beat Rafael Nadal late last year in Switzerland. At 84 in the world the 18-year-old is the youngest player in the top 100.
