52nd Golden Pirouette to be held in Zagreb on Dec 4-7

ZAGREB, Dec 2 (Hina) – From December 4 to 7, the Croatian capital Zagreb will host the 52nd Golden Pirouette figure skating tournament, which is one of the oldest competitions in the world.

The event will feature more than 200 male and female figure skaters, winners of Olympic, world and European medals, from 38 countries.

Among the competitors are the current European champion Sofia Samodurova of Russia and her compatriot and former world and European champion, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, as well as last year’s winner Jason Brown of the United States, and Ksenia Stolbova, the winner of the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, who since recently has had a new skating partner, Andrei Novoselov.

There will be a number of Croatian representatives taking part. Lana Petranović and Antonio Souza Kordeiru will compete in the senior competition, whilst Hana Cvijanović, Hana Kosić, Stella Ristić, Luce Stipaničev, Lorena Čižmek and Charles Henry Katanović will compete in the junior competition.

The 52nd Golden Pirouette will be held in the Dom Sportova sports hall in Zagreb with a big crowd expected once again to attend over the four-day competition. The event, which will be broadcast live on HRT, will start on 4 December at 3 pm with the opening ceremony. The competition will start at 5:30 pm.
