Young Croatian Opera Singer Makes BBC Cardiff Singer Of The World Final

Young Croatian opera singer Marko Mimica has made it through to Sunday’s final of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2013 competition.

Mimica will perform a repertoire of his choice accompanied by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at St David’s Hall in Cardiff, Wales on Sunday with Olena Tokar (Ukraine), Daniela Mack (Argentina), Teresa Romano (Italy) and Jamie Barton (USA) for the main prize of £15,000 and the Cardiff Trophy.

Making the final is a huge achievement for Mimica, with over 400 opera singers auditioning for the BBC competition. 20 were selected to come to Cardiff and Mimica again made the final cut of 5 for the final on Sunday. Judges this year include Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Dame Felicity Palmer, Neil Shicoff, Bernd Weikl, Maren Hofmeister, Per Boye Hansen and Nicholas Payne. (photo: BBC)
