Velika Gorica to become home of Croatian football

A meeting was held on Thursday at the headquarters of the Government of the Republic of Croatia where the Croatian Football Federation’s delegation, led by President Marijan Kustić, met with the Prime Minister, Andrej Plenković, and his closest associates to discuss the construction plans for the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) football camp.

The high-ranking delegation of the federation was received by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, along with his Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction, and State Property, Branko Bačić, Minister of Sports and Tourism, Nikolina Brnjac, State Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Josip Pavić, and the spokesperson of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Marko Milić, in the presence of the mayor of Velika Gorica, Krešimir Ačkar.

At the meeting, the HNS delegation, including President Kustić, executive director Tomislav Svetina, coach Zlatko Dalić, and technical director of the A and U-21 national team Stipe Pletikosa, discussed the construction of a football camp in Velika Gorica.

“The leaders of the Croatian Football Federation informed us about the construction of a football camp in Velika Gorica, which is important for the Croatian national team and the development of football. The Government of the Republic of Croatia will support the project and cede state land,” said Prime Minister Plenković.

The Prime Minister also stated that the government had discussed further activities related to investments in stadiums and sports buildings of national importance, for which other federations are also preparing co-financing criteria.

He emphasized that the Croatian national team’s success was a source of pride for the country, as they are among the top teams in the world.

“We are especially pleased with the concrete announcement that the Government of the Republic of Croatia will give us land on which, I am deeply convinced, the new home of Croatian football will soon emerge. We also welcome the fact that through the new Law on Sports, the Government shows its ambition to invest in sports infrastructure throughout the country, which will certainly contribute to the further development of sports in Croatia,” said HNS President Marijan Kustić, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Plenković and the government for their support of the construction of the national camp, a strategic goal of Croatian football.
