“Taste Croatian Tradition” project being promoted in 10 counties

ZAGREB, May 27 (Hina) – Tourist boards in ten counties signed an agreement on Wednesday on cooperation on developing and implementing the “Taste Croatian Tradition” project aimed at promoting local gastronomy and traditional cuisine and ingredients.

The project has been conducted by the Varazdin destination company – DMK Vall 042 for several years now in cooperation between tourist boards and restaurants throughout Croatia. The company’s owner and project leader is Borislav Simenc who underscored that the project currently includes 130 restaurants offering local cuisine.

They are all signified with the sign “Tastes of Croatia…” which is why their guests can enjoy each day at least two traditional meals on the menu and at least six labels of local beverages and local ingredients and products, Simenc said.

Assistant Tourism Minister Monika Udovicic said the research has shown that local cuisine and wines are the most important for tourists and that one-third of them stress that that is the main reason or at least a very important reason for them coming to visit Croatia.

New application for foreigners to enable easy travel to and from Croatia

She announced a new application that will be launched on Thursday with which guests from the EU coming to Croatia will be able to complete a questionnaire of where they have booked accommodation and their contact details so that they can be promptly found and contacted in the event of deteriorated epidemiological situation.

“That is important for greater security and will contribute to saving the tourism season with regard to the public health crisis,” Udovicic added.
