Croatia’s champion discus thrower Sandra Perković has equaled a European record after becoming the European Champion for the fourth time in a row…

Sandra threw 69.97 metres to claim first place and the European title at the European Championships in Amsterdam on Friday night. Sandra was convincing tonight in Amsterdam, with the next two best throws from Julia Fischer (65.77) and Shanice Craft (63.89)

The title was her fourth European Championship in a row after she won in Barcelona (2010), when she became the youngest ever European champion in women’s discus throw, in Helsinki (2012) and in Zürich in 2014. Sandra becomes now just the third female athlete in history to win four back-to-back European titles.

Perković and coach Edis Elkasević will be hoping her form continues into the Olympic Games in Rio next month where she will chasing gold again after she won in London 2012. Sandra’s personal best and national record is 71.08 meters, set at the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Switzerland.
