PHOTOS: Croatia football team raises over half a million kuna to help children

ZAGREB, 12 November 2019 – The Croatian national team has raised over half a million kuna for the treatment and education of children during a charity night on Monday in Zagreb.

Luka Modric, Zlatko Dalic and the rest of the Croatia squad and management held the second charity fundraising night for the Vatreno Srce Foundation and raised money by taking phone calls for the Pediatric Clinic of the Children’s Hospital Kantrida in Rijeka and for the Step into Life charity.

The public were able to participate in the action by calling the humanitarian call centre number and they had the opportunity to speak with Croatian national team members, as well as with famous Croatian singers, actors and TV personalities.

More than 80,000 phone calls came in during the night with over 500,000 kuna raised, Jutarnji list reported.

Apart from the football stars, musicians like Nina Badric, Petar Graso, Giuliano, Jelena Rozga, Matija Cvek, Antonela Djindjic, Vjekoslav Kljucaric and Eni Jurisic performed some of their popular hits.

The Vatreno Srce Foundation was founded more than ten years ago by the players and the professional staff of the Croatian football team with the aim of helping children across Croatia. On the Board of Directors are captain Luka Modric, coach Zlatko Dalic, and doctors Zoran Bahtijarevic, Boris Nemec and Joseph Paladino.
