The Zagreb mayor, Tomislav Tomašević, revealed at a press conference that the Sljeme cable car will be free for citizens during school holidays, from February 17th to 25th.

He also encouraged citizens to use cable cars and public transportation instead of cars when traveling to Sljeme on weekends.

By the decision of Mayor Tomislav Tomašević, skiing for citizens will be free until the end of the season, 24sata reported.

“If you’re not working that week, it’s better to go during the week to avoid crowds. Regarding skiing, warm winds and high temperatures prevail. Currently, skiing is possible, but if the temperatures persist, skiing may not be feasible. However, there are other activities available, Tomašević emphasised.

Many citizens have previously chosen to take advantage of the free cable car ride to spend the day on Sljeme in the past. This has led to huge crowds.
