Mediterranean Cricket League kicks off in Zagreb this week

Mediterranean Cricket League coming to Zagreb in July

After successful tournaments on the coast in Split and Tučepi, the Mediterranean Cricket League (MCL) heads to the Croatian capital Zagreb for the first time. 

MCL2022 kicks off tomorrow at Budenec Oval in Sesvete with four teams from Croatia, Australia and India vying for the trophy. 

“This year we have former England international cricketer Darren Maddy playing as well as former Australian international Brad Hogg who will be our marquee player. Our MCL Ambassadors are Brad Hogg, Simon Katich and Darren Maddy,” said Jeff Grzinic, MCL Tournament Director.

The 4-day, T20 tournament opens on Tuesday with the home team Zagreb CC taking on Australian side Boomerangs. Friday is reserved for finals days. 

“This years MCL will also be a good hit out for all Croatian national squad members before they go to Helsinki, Finland next week for ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers,” Grzinic concluded.

THURSDAY 7 July 

09:00-11:30 – Croatia A vs Balhera CA
12:15- 14:45 – Croatia A vs Boomerangs

FRIDAY 8 July 

09:00-11:30 – 3rd v 4th
12:15- 14:45 – 1st v 2nd

Entry to Budenec Oval is free. 

The tournament will also be live streamed on the MCL YouTube channel.
