ZAGREB, 6 Feb (Hina) – The Museum of the City of Zagreb will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Sunday, 13 February, with a workshop on making the famous Croatian decoration called “licitarsko srce” (licitar heart), which came to this area in the 17th century from Germany and Austria.

Licitar decorations, which are made of flour, are most often in the shape of a heart, which is always nicely decorated, usually with plant motifs, love couples, birds symbolising the soul, the tree of life and others.

At church festivals, girls used to receive a licitar with the motif of an infant, while boys received licitars with the motif of a horsemen, and young men gave young women licitar hearts, the Museum said in a press release.

The price of the workshop is HRK 30 per participant, and it is intended for all ages. The number of participants is limited to ten people.
