José Carreras, one of the most prominent opera singers of his generation, is coming to the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb on September 23rd, 2024.
Accompanied by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, he will perform some of his most famous arias and songs.
Carreras is globally renowned for his exceptional vocal technique, deep emotional expression, and interpretation of roles in Verdi’s and Puccini’s operas.
Born in Spain, Carreras has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide with his outstanding artistry.
Throughout his remarkably successful career, Carreras has portrayed over 60 roles on stage and in recording studios. His voice, distinguished by extraordinary warmth and expressiveness, has captivated listeners worldwide.
Additionally, Carreras has achieved impressive sales figures with over 85 million recordings sold, making him one of the most commercially successful opera singers of all time.
What makes Carreras truly special is not only his voice but also his incredible contribution to the fight against leukemia. Having survived the disease himself in 1987, he founded the Jose Carreras International Leukemia Foundation to support research and treatment of the illness.
After his recovery, he found a new role as an opera populariser. As a passionate football fan, he came up with the idea of forming The Three Tenors for the opening of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy.
Alongside his friends Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, they initially intended to hold a one-time concert, but due to immense popularity, they performed together 30 more times, achieving massive record sales – still holding the record for classical music.
Conductor David Giménez, known for his exceptional understanding of the voice, has already collaborated with Carreras on numerous unforgettable concerts worldwide. His leadership will ensure a flawless performance and an unforgettable musical experience for all attendees.
In addition to Carreras, soprano Martina Zadro will contribute to the evening’s magic with her extraordinary voice and interpretation.
Tickets for the Zagreb performance on September 23rd are available on Eventim.hr and Ulaznice.hr.
