Igor Štimac Never Had Doubt in Croatia

IgorStimacSacked Croatia coach Igor Štimac has sent his congratulations to Niko Kovač on Wednesday, a day after the former captain helped Croatia qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil…

Štimac begun the World Cup qualifying campaign in charge, but was given his marching orders ahead of the playoff matches with Iceland after losing 2-1 at home to Belgium and 2-0 away to Scotland…

“Congratulations everyone, I am enjoying in us making the World Cup, in which I believed from day one. This is a big thing for Croatian football, one more bit of proof of our strength. The players in the most important moment were exactly how they should have been,” said Štimac, adding that he will call Kovač this week to personally congratulate him.

Štimac ended his stint as Croatia boss with the worst record of any coach in the history of Croatia. He also was key in driving the fans away, with Croatia’s lowest ever attendance for a competitive match recorded against Belgium in October.
