Former Croatian Tennis Star In Financial Trouble

Former French Open winner and Croatia’s most successful women’s tennis player of all time Iva Majoli is set to be left without her million dollar apartment after getting herself into huge debt, reports daily Croatian newspaper Vecernji list.

The paper reports that Majoli owes the bank “millions” after “living the high-life” and also for credit she took out to open up a tennis centre in the heart of the Croatian capital Zagreb. Majoli’s luxury million dollar apartment on Zagreb’s main square will go for sale at public auction on 26 March, whilst another apartment in the suburb of Maksimir in Zagreb, worth 400,000 USD and in her mother’s name, will go up for public auction the same day.

Both properties can not be sold for less than two-thirds of the value under auction law and those interested have until 21 March to view the apartments.

The 1997 French Open champion reportedly sold a third of her tennis centre last year to help lift her out of debt, but it was unsuccessful.
