Former Croatia Coach Štimac Gets New Job

IgorStimacFormer Croatia coach Igor Štimac has finally got another job after he was unceremonious given his marching orders back in October 2013 after his sides humiliating 2-0 loss at the hands of Scotland…

“He degraded the image of the national team. Although I personally was not given the resignation, I know what he needs to do, Igor is no longer the coach,”said Croatian FA President Davor Šuker shortly after the loss.

After taking a break away from coaching and doing some part-time commentary work on television over the past 12 months, Štimac is back in a job. The former Hajduk Split, Derby and West Ham centre-back will take over from his old boss Miroslav Ćiro Blažević at Croatian first division side NK Zadar after Blažević walked out at the start of the year.

Štimac will have his work cut out, NK Zadar currently are cemented at the bottom of the table. The league resumes after the winter break on 7 February.
