Croatian Food Truck Festival in Zagreb

ZAGREB, 11 June 2021 – Great recognition for the first Croatian Food Truck Festival comes from the European Street Food Awards, the world’s largest street food competition. 

The Croatian Food Truck Festival in Zagreb has been put on the world map and has been included this year’s edition of the European Street Food Awards.

Croatia will be represented on the global stage alongside food truck festivals in England, Scotland, Germany, Russia, Denmark, Italy, Sweden, Iceland, Wales, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland and Ukraine. 

The award-winning BBC journalist Richard Johnson is in the company of the most influential food advisers and journalists, who is also the author of the best-selling book The Street Food Revolution and the founder of the European Street Food Awards. 

Croatian chef Mate Janković was chosen by Richard Johnson for the jury that will announce the best Food Truck at the Food Truck Festival in Zagreb, which will have the honour of competing with fifteen countries in 2022 in Switzerland for the best European street food restaurant and to win the prestigious European Street Food Award.

Zagreb Food Truck Festival returns this weekend

The first Food Truck Festival in Croatia returns again this weekend. Zagreb Food Truck Festival starts again from 12 June in the shade on the spacious meadow next to the Aquarius club on Jarun. 

This year’s edition brings a bunch of content for all ages – from children’s workshops and plays, book promotions, barbershops, performances by chefs, concerts and DJ performances, a fair of records and CDs, a fashion flea market, and much more. 

All the of Croatia’s matches at Euro 2020 will also be shown at the Food Truck Festival from the main festival stage. 

In the first term of the Food Truck Festival, from June 12 to July 4, delicious food will be prepared by food trucks BarbaQ, Munchy, Apululu, Loaded, and METRO Foodie Club powered by Mrav-Lobby. 

The SWEET zone will be sweetened by Amelie and Nadine’s fritule. Festival Wednesdays will be reserved for CHEF KUHA NA KOTAČI, so the first guest appearance on Wednesday, June 16 will be Mate Janković, while on Wednesday, June 23, Nastasja Chiara Petrić and Marko Palfi will be guests on Wednesday, June 30.

Zagreb Food Truck Festival in its first week brings something for everyone:

Monday 14.6 – Fun circus show for kids, Chestnut and Papaya

Tuesday 15.6 – Interactive-educational play for children on the topic of using mobile phones and games indefinitely, “The big flaw of small screens”

Tuesday 15.6 – Fun pub quiz on sports, music, culture and gastronomy

Thursday 17.6 – Literary evening with a guest appearance by a well-known Croatian author in collaboration with Hoću knjigu

Weekend fair and sale of CDs, gramophone records and vinyl in cooperation with Woodstock CD shop
Children’s workshops from Wednesday to Sunday

The first week of the festival brings a GIG on WHEELS with performances by funk, jazz and cover bands with a plethora of the best Zagreb DJs:

16.6. Yogi Lonich Trio – a celebrated American guitarist, played in a band with the late Chris Cornell from the legendary Soundgarden and Audioslave

17.6. Joe Pandur & Friends

DJs: Zozo, Skrinjica, Bocca, Bizzo, Dirty Hairy, Phat Phillie. 

The Food Truck Festival is held with the support of wheel friends such as Staropramen, METRO, Badel, Jamnica, Kutjevo, Hendricks, Bakina tajna, Kotányi, Pet Centar, Lavazza, Hoću knjigu, Jutarnji list, Yammat, Jukebox and Aquarius.

All day and night events with concerts and DJ performances, as well as children’s workshops at the Zagreb Food Truck Festival are free for visitors (except the pub quiz), and the working hours of the Festival are:

MONDAY – FRIDAY: 4 pm – 11 pm 

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: 11 am – 11 pm
