Disney reveals Croatian city inspired the film ‘Little Mermaid’

To celebrate its 100th birthday, Disney has decided to share a list of 30 places around the world that gave them ideas for their famous movies.

Locations in 13 different countries in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, including one in Croatia, acted as inspiration for famous Disney films.

“The Little Mermaid” was a big hit at the movies this year. But for those who remember the old cartoon version with Ariel, the red-haired daughter of Triton, here’s an interesting fact: The beautiful shores where Ariel washes up in the 1989 film were actually inspired by Dubrovnik in Croatia, Disney revealed as Metro writes.
