Discovering eastern Croatia: Weekend with friends in Srijem and Slavonia

To get the full Croatia experience you need to discover all of the country. Srijem and Slavonia in the east of the country has loads to offer with cities like Vinkoci, Vukovar and Ilok and is a great place to head to with friends for a getaway.  

Earlier autumn is a great time to visit. Here are some insider tips:

Wellness in Vinkovci

Nothing is better than a nice massage, a peeling after the summer, deep hydration of the face, swimming in the pool, relaxing in the jacuzzi or in the warmth of the sauna in great company.

The urban face of Vukovar 

This is where the popular Croatian borosanas and starters footwear were created. If you are a fan of the urban scene, it is good to know that this city on the Danube is the most beautiful open-air gallery with murals, 3D anamorphic paintings and graffiti signed by famous Croatian and world street art artists.

And one more thing. Vukovarsko beer is drunk in Vukovar. This will be recommended by every beer lover, and one of the favourite places for this beer is Vukovarsko pub.

Holiday homes 

If freedom and privacy is what you are looking for. You will find them in holiday homes in urban areas or ambient villages. The dam in Vinkovci or the Pearl of the Danube in Vukovar are just some of such places, and for celebrations like hens’ parties or birthdays there is Leila’s Garden in Ivankovo.

A great choice for a relaxing holiday, a great starting point for excursions in the Vukovar-Srijem County. Early autumn in Srijem and Slavonia are ideal for socialising in the garden, sunbathing by the pool or coffee on the terrace.

Start and end the journey with Ilok sparkling wine

Ilok is one of the most beautiful towns you will see, it is the wine centre of Srijem and Slavonia, and the sparkling wines of Ilok wineries were enjoyed by the famous Rolling Stones. Light, fluttery, comfortable, it will suit you by hanging out with your friends. Have you tasted Ilok rosée or honey predicate wines? The ladies adore them.
