Croats Switching Off The TV

For the first time since television viewing has been measured in Croatia, the number of people not watching television at all has increased as Croats turn to a low info diet.

At the end of February this year 6% of Croats were not watching any television at all, up from 3.5% in September last year. “Statistically that is a significant drop in television watchers. We don’t know what is driving this current trend. It is not alarming, but it is the first time that there has been a drop,” said Darja Kupinic Gusic from Media net.

Sport was the most viewed content on television and Nova TV was still the most viewed television station in Croatia. With the drop in television viewers, there has been an increase in people reading gossip and sport magazines.

“Comparing February 2013 with September last year, the biggest growth has come in the number of readers of women’s magazine Cosmopolitan and the “gossip” magazines. Story, Gloria and sports magazines are going well,” said Kupinic Guscic.
