Croatian photographer Tomislav Veic has won first prize in the Nikon 100th Anniversary Award.
Veic’s photo has beaten 21,000 others from all over the world to win the main award of the prestigious Nikon Photo Contest.
Veic’s winning photo, selected from over 21,000 photos from 172 countries, was taken on 10 December in Zagreb when 1,000 lanterns were let into the foggy Zagreb sky.
The photo is titled: When Lanterns Flying in the Sky (NIKON D800 / AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR).
“It is a special honor to be the winner of the photo contest with the photo when the company Nikon celebrates 100 years of work and existence. Thank you very much,” Veic said.
The Nikon Photo Contest has been held by Nikon since 1969 and gives photographers a chance to share important stories and influence the way people think through images.
