Centre of Competence for Translational Medicine to be built at Children’s Hospital Srebrnjak in Zagreb

ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) – A Centre of Competence for Translational Medicine (CCTM) will soon be built at the Children’s Hospital Srebrnjak in Zagreb, and this pediatric translational centre will be supported by HRK 432 million kuna provided from the European Union funds.The implementation of the CCTM project will take 32 months, and includes the construction and equipment of a new ward building.

The overall costs are estimated ar HRK 432 million, and the EU funds cover 85% of that amount and the rest is ensured by the state budget.

The contract on funding this project under the 2014-2020 Competitiveness and Cohesion Programme was signed in Government House on Friday by Education and Science Minister Blazenka Divjak, the hospital’s director, Boro Nogalo, and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency head Tomislav Petric.

Attending the ceremony, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said that this project had been very well prepared and was perceived as a significant investment in the Croatian healthcare system.

He also described the CCTM at Srebrnjak as a key strategic project of his cabinet within the country’s plans for the intake of EU funds.
