Bruno Petković and Lovro Majer get Croatia call up for final World Cup qualifiers

ZAGREB, 7 November 2021 – Croatia coach Zlatko Dalić has called up Dinamo Zagreb striker Bruno Petković and Rennes midfielder Lovor Majer for the final two World Cup qualifiers.

Petković, who has been in good form for Dinamo Zagreb, and Majer will join up with the rest of the Croatia squad on Monday, November 8th in Zagreb ahead of the final qualifiers against Malta and Russia.

Petković has 19 caps for Croatia, scoring 6 goals, whilst Majer has made two appearances for his country at senior level.

Last week, Dalić called up Malmö striker Antonio Čolak and Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Luka Sučić, who made his debut for Vatreni last month against Slovakia.

Šučić was called into the squad to cover for Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovačić who is under an injury cloud, whilst Čolak is cover for Josip Brekalo, who is also in doubt with an injury. 

Croatia needs to win their final two qualifiers to assure direct qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. 

First up on 11 November they meet Malta away, followed by the final match against Russia at Poljud stadium in Split on 14 November.
