Borna Ćorić has knocked Rafael Nadal out of the Cincinnati Masters tournament in the second round on Wednesday night.
The 25-year-old Croatian, who is now ranked 152nd in the world after missing 12 months of the tour with a shoulder injury, upset the 22-time Grand Slam champion with a three-set victory 7-6 (9), 4-6, 6-3.
“Very, very special. I was out for the last two years. I didn’t play on the big stage and in front of a big crowd. I was honestly just looking forward to playing this match, as I hadn’t had that in the last two years. Now obviously that I have won, it’s just, yeah, kind of crazy, I would say,” Ćorić said after the win.

Interestingly, it was Ćorić’s third win over Nadal in five meetings. His other wins over the Spaniard came in 2014 in Basel and in 2016 in the third round at Cincinnati.
