Toni Kukoc Interested In NBA Coaching Role

One of the finest basketball players ever to come out of Croatia has revealed his intentions to take up a coaching role in the NBA.

Chicago-based former NBA star Toni Kukoc (44), who is currently in the Croatian capital Zagreb on business, spoke to daily paper Vecernji list about his desires.

“It was nice being away from basketball for the last few years, but after 20 years involved in basketball, I can’t become a chemical engineer today. Basketball is all I know and all I can do,” said Kukoc, who says he has spent his time away from the game after retiring in 2006 by spending time with his family and playing golf.

“In the US I am only interested (in coaching) in the NBA, for starters I would like to be an assistant coach. If I returned to Europe then I would immediately be head coach,” said Kukoc, who did not rule out coaching in his home country Croatia one day. Kukoc played in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks and the Milwaukee Bucks.
