Due to high demand in recent years, two Veseli božićni tramvaji (Happy Christmas Trams) will take to the streets this Advent, spreading festive cheer through the heart of the city.
Children and their families will be welcomed on board by Father Christmas, fairies and elves, who will host a short festive performance during the 30-minute ride.
Sweet treats will also be handed out to young passengers and visitors.
This year, rides will again be offered on both the historic 1924 tourist tram, an iconic reminder of Zagreb’s transport heritage, and the modern low-floor NT 2300 tram.
Operating Dates and Timetable
The Christmas trams will run from Sunday, 30 November, to Wednesday, 7 January, operating every 15 minutes at the following times:
• Monday–Thursday: 16:00–19:00
• Friday: 12:00–16:00
• Saturdays, Sundays, and 26 December & 6 January: 10:00–16:00
On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve (24 and 31 December), trams will operate from 10:00 to 13:30.
There will be no service on 14 December (Advent Run), 25 December (Christmas Day) and 1 January (New Year’s Day).
Route and Tickets
Departures will be from the corner of Praška Street and Ban Jelačić Square, where a dedicated ticket booth will also be located.
The circular route will take the tram from Ban Jelačić Square along Ilica, towards Ulica Republike Austrije, through Jukićeva and Mihanovićeva streets, and back via Zrinjevac to the starting point.
Tickets cost €5, and this year, for the first time, they can also be purchased online via the MojZET portal (moj.zet.hr). Families are encouraged to secure their preferred time slot in advance due to the tram’s popularity.
