Zagreb has unveiled a new digital tool designed to bring the city’s cultural offer under one roof.

Guru za kulturu, a web application that gathers information on cultural events across the capital, was presented on Tuesday by Mayor Tomislav Tomašević, Emina Višnić from the City Office for Culture and Civil Society, and Dražen Lučanin from the Service for IT Systems and Technical Affairs.

The platform provides a clear and simple overview of current cultural programmes, with a strong focus on events organised by city institutions as well as the independent cultural scene.

Users can browse concerts, exhibitions, theatre performances, workshops and much more, all through a single interface.

“In the first phase, cultural institutions are filling the platform with their programmes, while the second phase will include organisers from the wider independent scene. Citizens will no longer need to visit multiple websites, everything supported by the city budget will be available in one place,” Mayor Tomašević told reporters.

The need for such a unified information hub emerged during the development of Zagreb’s 2024–2030 Cultural Development Programme.

Both residents and cultural workers highlighted the lack of centralised and easily searchable data on cultural activities.

To address this, Guru za kulturu introduces a range of features, including advanced filtering by category, date, location or keyword.

Every listed event comes with a detailed description, schedule, ticket information and links to organisers or host institutions.

“Our Guru shows that Zagreb can proudly say it is a city of culture – a city that truly lives culture. A wide variety of cultural and artistic events are available not only in the city centre, but also across many neighbourhoods,” said Emina Višnić.

Dražen Lučanin added that the application is an example of digital participation in action. “Guru za kulturu was created through HAKL, where citizens themselves contributed ideas and solutions. This is another successful step in making public services more accessible,” he said.

The application was developed by Differo Studio, the winning team of a hackathon held at the Zagreb Innovation Centre (ZICER) in November 2024, who worked with the City of Zagreb to deliver the final product.

“Zagreb has always been, and will continue to be, a city of culture. Our goal is to make cultural content increasingly available to everyone,” the mayor concluded.

The Guru za kulturu web application is available at kultura.zagreb.hr.
