VIDEO: World champion mountain bikers show off stunts and beauties of Hvar

World champion mountain bikers show off their amazing skills and also the beauty of the Croatian island of Hvar at the same time.
The current reigning world champions Oliver Widmann (Juniors 26 “) and Dominik Oswald (Elite 20″) as well as Noah Sandritter (squad athlete BDR 20 “) took their bikes with them and transformed the island of Hvar into their own playground producing a stunning video to say thank you to their hosts.

The German Trial-National Team members visited Hvar twice for training in 2020.
The first visit was in February when four-time World Champion Nina Reichenbach, the German runner-up Larena Hees, Jan Friedrich (founder of a famous bike academy), Jan Welte, Jannis Oing and the junior double World Champion Oliver Widmann arrived.

With the support of Villa Triptih (in the preseason a luxury sports villa) a bike event was organized for the charity Udruga Kolibrici in the picturesque fishing village of Vrboska. The athletes were then celebrated by the islanders and received very warmly. The event was covered by the main Croatian news Dnevnik.

In July, Widmann, Oswald and Sandritter visited the island, accompanied by photographer and cameraman Manuel Kleinmann. During this visit, they not only trained hard, they enjoyed the island stay in sunny weather and produced four films showing casually the beauties and charms of the warmest Adriatic island as a thank you to the islanders.

The films were made with the support of the TZ Jelsa, TZ Hvar, the local authorities, the Croatian police and Villa Triptih. A film was shot in the town of Hvar, particularly the Spanjola fortress. There was a special permit from the highest authority, because these dangerous actions can only be mastered by the world’s best athletes. The spectacular scenes received a lot of praise from all over the world, from the various tourist boards and from some Croatian consulates.

It must be mentioned that the athletes and the excellent cameraman produced the videos for free out of love for the island. They can’t wait to visit Hvar again. Even a well-known bike academy is interested in setting up a training camp on the island on a regular basis.
