New Croatian Prime Minister Tihomir ‘Tim’ Orešković was sworn in last night after parliament backed him and his new cabinet…

With 83 votes in favour, 63 against and 5 abstentions, Orešković, his two deputy Prime Ministers, Tomislav Karamarko and Božo Petrov, and 17 new cabinet Ministers were sworn in after a 14-hour long debate in parliament on Friday.

Orešković, who was educated in Canada and has a business background, said his cabinet would target economic growth, investment, sharper competitiveness and an improved standard of living.

Former Prime Minister Zoran Milanović congratulated Orešković and wished him all the best.

“I wish him all the best. It is not going to be easy, but it will be easier than in 2011 (when Milanović took power),” the former PM said.
