The Mljet Tourist Board presents its new video series “Explore Mljet,” and the second episode is titled “Gastro Mljet” where they go on a culinary journey of the island, exploring the delicious food and drinks magical Mljet has to offer.

Discover the Culinary Treasures of Mljet

Nestled amidst breathtaking natural landscapes, the island of Mljet is not only known for its beauty but also offers a delight of exquisite culinary experiences for visitors. Thanks to its fertile soil and favourable Mediterranean climate, Mljet boasts an abundance of fresh local ingredients used in traditional island dishes. 

The video series “Explore Mljet,” produced by the Mljet Tourist Board in collaboration with the production house LMT Studio from Dubrovnik, aims to highlight the island’s natural beauty and attractions.

One of the highlights of Mljet’s culinary scene is seafood. Visitors can enjoy freshly caught fish and succulent shellfish, savouring the bounties of the Adriatic Sea through expertly prepared dishes. Local restaurants and taverns on Mljet serve a variety of seafood delicacies, including deliciously grilled fish, octopus salad, and the famous black risotto with squid ink.

Mljet and Its Treasure – Olive Oil

Mljet is also known for its production of olive oil. The island’s olive groves yield high-quality olives that are carefully harvested and pressed to obtain a rich and aromatic oil. The local population takes great pride in their olive oil, using it generously in their cuisine and offering it to visitors as a true delicacy.

As you explore Mljet, you will discover vineyards that produce excellent wines. Island winemakers passionately craft wines using indigenous grape varieties that thrive in Mljet’s unique terroir.
