Trogir, May 29, 2023 – Following the island Hvar, where the first tournament of the second season of the PRO 3×3 Tour 2023 was organized the previous weekend, the series of international 3×3 basketball tournaments continued in another city in Croatia’s Split-Dalmatia County – Trogir.

The second two-day tournament of this year’s PRO 3×3 Tour 2023 was once again organized at an attractive location – a court set up on the Trogir waterfront beneath the impressive Kamerlengo Tower. Like the tournament in Hvar, it gathered a strong international lineup of teams in the Senior Elite category.

Unlike the competition in Hvar, which was won by the Aluplastik Živinice team from neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina, the final of the Trogir tournament, played on Saturday night, featured the strong Croatian teams Cro 1 and Cro 2, composed of candidates for the national 3×3 basketball team.

The team Cro 1, consisting of Mario Rajčić, Stipe Krstanović, Stanko Kujundžić, and Dean Popović, deservedly claimed victory and a prize of 2,000 euros with a score of 21:12. The Cro 2 team received a prize of 800 euros, while the third place and a prize of 400 euros in the senior category were won by the 3×3 Prnjavor team from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is worth noting that the excellent team Podgorica Kodio, composed of players representing the national team of Montenegro, also reached the semifinals of this competitive tournament.

One of the novelties of this year’s Tour is the matches of the U-19 junior teams in 3×3 basketball. The winner of the junior competition in Trogir was the team KK Švabo, which defeated the team KK Požarina in the final. Just like in the previous season and the first tournament of this season, Trogir also hosted a Kids Day with rich activities and events aimed at numerous children who gathered at the invitation of the organizers.

Educational workshops on the basics and rules of 3×3 basketball were organized for them, and the little ones had the opportunity to showcase their skills on a real 3×3 court.

“In this year’s edition of the PRO 3×3 Tour 2023, we chose the city of Trogir as the second stop, and we hit the mark completely. It turned out that the space in front of the Kamerlengo Tower is ideal for this kind of top-notch sports spectacle, and Trogir is an excellent host to the best 3×3 players from Croatia and the region. We are extremely satisfied with the collaboration with the Tourist Board of the City of Trogir, which recognized our idea from the beginning, decided to join the #beapartofthestory campaign, and enabled us to hold one of the strongest 3×3 tournaments in the region so far, with many representatives of their countries, including candidates for the Croatian national team in the upcoming European Championship qualifiers. As the icing on the cake, we received the news today that the live broadcast from Trogir was one of the most-watched shows of the day, which only proves how dynamic, attractive, and interesting this new Olympic sport is when combined with the beautiful tourist locations of our beautiful country,” said Ivan Paić, President of the Organizing Committee of the PRO 3×3 Tour 2023.

The Tourist Board of the City of Trogir also considers the connection between sports and tourism as extremely important for the development of sustainable tourism. “In that aim, this top-notch event that we hosted is a perfect example of combining sports and tourism, promoting an active lifestyle, creating experiences in the destination, along with the inevitable promotion of valuable cultural sites that Trogir, as a UNESCO-protected city, has in abundance. Just imagine the view from above, from an airplane approaching the airport and casting a glance at Trogir – on one side, the magnificent ambiance of the PRO 3×3 Tour, and on the other side, the bustling atmosphere of the street food festival,” describes the satisfied Marin Piveta, Director of the Tourist Board of the City of Trogir.

This year’s Tour will take place at attractive locations in 10 cities across Croatia until August 12, 2023. The third stop is once again located on the Adriatic coast, this time in the Istrian part. The next tournament will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 2nd and 3rd, in the beautiful town of Umag, again at an attractive location. “We are very much looking forward to the next stop in the beautiful Umag, and we invite all residents of Umag and their guests to come to the Trg Slobode (Freedom Square) in the city center and enjoy the 3×3 skills in great numbers,” said Ivan Paić on behalf of the organizers.
