Tragedy In Knin: 1 Policeman Dead, Another In Critical Condition

One policeman is dead and another is in a critical condition after police were called to a domestic dispute at a house in the village of Kijevo near Knin in the Dalmatian hinterland on Friday night.

Daily Jutarnji list reports that police attended the incident at the home at around 8pm on Friday night, when the man, who they report was previously known to the police, stabbed both policeman. One policeman died as a result with the other fighting for his life in hospital. The tragedy has put paid to EU entry celebrations which were scheduled to take place in Knin this weekend. The town’s Mayor said that as a sign of solidarity for the killed policeman and his family official EU celebrations would not go ahead.
