ZAGREB, 1 Jan (Hina) – New Year’s resolutions in Croatia are largely job-related, with 66% of people seeing them as motivation to achieve long-term goals, while 34% dismiss them as meaningless, recruitment firm Alma Career Croatia said on Wednesday.

As in previous years, two-thirds of resolutions focus on careers, led by people aged 26–30 (60%) and those under 25 (52%). The share falls to 38% among those aged 31–40 and 33% among respondents over 41.

Finding a better job is the most common resolution, cited by 62% of respondents, followed by higher monthly income (40%), professional training and education (25%) and a better work-life balance (24%).

Only 28% said they had fully met last year’s resolution, while 41% said they had not and 32% said they were still hoping to do so.

One in five said their plans failed due to poor planning or unforeseen obstacles, while others cited lack of support or simply forgetting their resolution.

The survey covered more than 400 respondents, 73% women and 27% men, with 86% in employment, mostly in privately owned companies.
