Rijeka Sign Former Real Madrid Midfielder

AlexFormer Real Madrid player and Spanish Youth international Álex Fernández has signed for Croatian first division side NK Rijeka…

Fernández, who has represented Spain at youth level, joins NK Rijeka on loan from Espanyol until the end of the season.

Born in Madrid, Álex joined Real Madrid’s youth system when he was 12. In 2010 he started appearing with Real Madrid Castilla in Segunda División B and, in July of that year, he was selected by first-team coach José Mourinho for a preseason tour in the United States. Álex made his La Liga debut in Real Madrid’s 3–1 win at Racing de Santander.

NK Rijeka will have an option to purchase the midfielder at the end of the season.
