On Wednesday, January 17, at Boiler in Split, METRO, a partner of MICHELIN, awarded the first MICHELIN gold plaques in Croatia to the restaurants Zrno Soli and il Ponte.

With the presentation of MICHELIN gold plaques, Croatia joins a small number of countries that, in addition to traditional recognitions such as stars, Bib Gourmand, and recommendations, also have restaurants with gold plaques.

The MICHELIN gold plaque challenge was initiated in 2020 as a creative initiative aimed at encouraging engagement and increasing the visibility of restaurateurs on social media, to attract even more guests and further strengthen their connection with MICHELIN.

“We are extremely proud that with the awarding of the first MICHELIN gold plaques, Croatia has positioned itself among the leading tourist and hospitality countries, providing further confirmation that the quality of Croatian hospitality is increasing year after year. We know that MICHELIN recognitions are based on five unique criteria: product quality, mastery of culinary techniques, harmony and balance of flavors, the chef’s personality expressed in cooking, and consistency. If we were to summarize, creativity is the common denominator based on which a restaurant earns its place in the guide. That is precisely why the goal of this competition was to convey the creativity that such a restaurant undoubtedly possesses to social media and express it visually. Congratulations to this year’s winners,” said Imre Horváth, President of the Management Board of METRO Croatia.

The partner of this year’s MICHELIN gold plaque award is the Croatian Tourist Board.

METRO is a long-time partner of the MICHELIN guide, which is an international reference for fine dining. Through this collaboration, METRO aims to further emphasize its commitment to the hospitality and hotel sector and provide the professional support it needs and deserves.
