Croatian Day at Easter Fair in Krakow

KRAKOW, 15 April 2019 – The traditional Easter Fair was officially opened on the Main Market Square in Krakow, Poland on Sunday. It was also Croatian Day.

Traditionally, at the Easter Fair, which will last until Easter, thousands of residents of Krakow and nearby, as well as foreign tourists arrive every year.

The great attraction of the Easter Fair on Sunday were the Croatian “pisanice od srca” (decorated Easter eggs from the heart). The exhibition of “pisanice od srca” was organised for the first time at the fair by the Koprivnica and Križevci County in Croatia.  

One of these “pisanice” was given, as a gift, to the city of Krakow.

A large number of Krakow residents and tourists took a closer look at the the giant decorated Easter eggs from Croatia, posing also for photos with them on the day. 

At the same time, visitors to the fair could also familiarise themselves with traditional products from Croatian producers from the northern region of Croatia. Among the many Croatian companies present were Podravka, known by many in Poland for their spice Vegeta.

The Croatian Day on the opening day of the Easter Fair in Krakow was organised by Honorary Consul Paweł Włodarczyk, who was the initiator of this day and the promotion of Croatian Easter eggs and the Croatian Podravina region.

On the same day, in the Krakow City Hall, an exhibition of paintings of folk painters from the Koprivnica and Križevci County was also opened.
