Spanish Giants Barcelona to go Croatian Style?
Croatia’s checkered kit is one of the most recognisable in the world. The traditional red and white and the alternative blue and black was rated one of the best kits at this year’s World Cup in Russia.
Has it inspired Spanish giants Barcelona to follow suit and break a long tradition? Since 1899, when Barcelona was formed, they have turned out in stripes but according to Spanish media, next season they are set to turn out in checkers, similar to the Croatian kit at this year’s World Cup.
Leaked images of the club’s kit for the 2019/20 season surfaced online this week.
The news about the new kit was published by Barcelona-based daily newspaper Sport.
“The club has given the green light to a new design by Nike and work is due to begin on the kits soon. Barça’s home shirt will be squared, in a similar to design to the one worn by Croatia’s national team, although it still will maintain the Blaugrana colours,” Sport writes.

Barcelona spokesperson Chemi Teres did not respond to news about the speculation of the new kit.
Barcelona, who has one Croatian in their side with Ivan Rakitić, is sponsored by the same kit maker as Croatia – Nike.
