Over 10,000 people have taken part in a poll to select a commemorative 25 kuna coin set to go into circulation…

The Croatian National Bank (HNB) will issue the new commemorative 25 kuna coins on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Croatian Independence – 8 October 1991 – October 8, 2016. The new coins will be put into circulation on 7 October 2016.

In July 2016 the Croatian Monetary Institute designed three different coins based on the works of sculptor Damir Mataušić. The public were then invited to vote on their favourite coin on an online survey. More than 10,000 people took part in voting with the winning coin receiving 50% of the vote. The remaining two designs got 28% and 22% of the vote.
