Confirmation of the biggest tuna ever caught in Croatia…

A bluefin tuna caught off the coast of Rovinj in the northern Adriatic has been confirmed as the biggest tuna every caught in Croatia, daily Jutarnji list reports. The tuna, which was 3 metres long, weighed in at 340 kilograms.

The massive tuna was caught on 29 July 2016 ten nautical miles of the coast of Rovinj at 7:00am. The crew on board a Abyss Fishing Charter Croatia boat skippered by Ozren Božić battled for 2 and a half hours to bring the tuna in. Besides Božić, Patrik Džaja and Petar Bijuk are also credited with the catch.

Abyss Fishing Charter Croatia has one of 12 boats in all of Croatia with a licence to catch tuna granted by official institutions of the Republic of Croatia and the Intergovernmental Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT).
