Oldest Croatian woman abroad passes away aged 106 in Australia

26 February 2020 – The oldest Croatian woman abroad has passed away in Sydney, Australia aged 106.
Marija Desanti, who was born on 16 June 1913, passed away on Monday, 24 February 2020 at the age of 106, the Croatian Catholic Centre Blacktown in Sydney announced today.
“It is with deep sadness we advise of the passing of our beloved and eldest member of our Parish Marija. A Holy Mass for Marija’s repose will be held after Rosary on Tuesday 3rd March 2020. Rosary at 10:00 am and Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 am.”
In June last year, Marija celebrated her 106th birthday and a special mass was held for her at the Croatian Catholic Centre Blacktown where she was greeted with beautiful words, wishes, congratulations and a large bouquet of flowers, CroExpress reported at the time.
Croatia oldest woman, Josipa Talan, passed away last year at the age of 107 in Ivanec.
