In Croatia, 20 road projects are planned next year, and one of them has brought joy to neighbours in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

One of the road projects will shorten the journey from certain parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Makarska Riviera on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, which is a favourite summer destination due to its proximity.

Josip Škorić, the CEO of Croatian Roads, confirmed to Jutarnji list that these projects, with a total value exceeding one billion euros, will begin implementation next year.

The project that will reduce travel time from certain parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Makarska involves the construction of the Ravča – Drvenik road.

This is a connected road from the Ravča interchange on the A1 motorway to the ferry port in Drvenik on the Adriatic Highway.

This road will be 7.36 kilometres long and include a 5.6-kilometer tunnel through the Rilić mountain. Several Croatian coastal municipalities have expressed interest in the construction of this road, as well as some Herzegovinian cities, including Ljubuški, Čapljina, Čitluk, Grude, and Široki Brijeg, as reported by Klix.ba.

The Croatian Parliament adopted the Financial Plan of Croatian Roads for the next year with projections for 2025 and 2026 last week, approving this ambitious plan for the construction of new roads.

The government is expected to adopt the Program for the Construction and Maintenance of Public Roads in the next four-year period early next year. This will create a formal framework for securing financial resources for the realisation of these projects, Jutarnji list said.
