New Era Starts For Croatia


Croatia officially became the European Union’s 28th member state at midnight on Monday, and threw a 5 million kuna (680,000 euros) party to celebrate. Heads of states from all over Europe joined EU leaders and Croatian politicians in celebrations in Zagreb.

“In the history of a nation, there are a few events such as this one. The accession of Croatia to the European Union is confirmation that each one of us belongs to the European democratic and cultural set of values.” said Croatia’s President Ivo Josipovic at a formal dinner before ceremonies begun on Zagreb’s downtown ban Jelacic square (Pics: Croatian government Facebook).
