Marin Čilić Wins ATP Zagreb Indoors

Marin CilicCroatian Marin Čilić has beaten number one seed German Tommy Haas 6-3, 6-4 on Sunday to defend his ATP Zagreb Indoors Open title…

Čilić, who did not drop a set during the entire tournament, has now won 4 Zagreb tournaments, adding to his wins in 2009, 2010 and 2013. Yesterday’s win means the 25-year-old Croat has now won 10 titles in his career.

“It’s nice to be here, on the throne, with the trophy, notably after a year which was very difficult for me,” Čilić said after his victory in the $420,000 tournament, before adding.

“I played a very good tournament and I’m satisfied with my form which is promising,”

Haas was quick to congratulate the world number 37 on his win.

“I congratulate Marin on the deserved victory. I might return to Zagreb in a year, if I am still playing tennis. I would love to win here once. It was a nice week in Zagreb”, Haas said.

Meanwhile the organisers of the Zagreb Indoors came in for praise from Europe’s ATP Tour Director Laurent Delanney, who was in town visiting the tournament.

“We organise around 60 tournaments around the world, and the Zagreb Indoors is one of the best organised,” Delanney said.
