Marcelo Brozović becomes highest paid Croatian athlete ever after signing for Saudi Arabian club

Croatia international Marcelo Brozović (30) has joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr from Inter Milan, the club announced on Monday.

The deal was concluded after lengthy and complicated negotiations. Inter will receive 18 million euros as compensation, while Brozović is expected to earn 25 million euros per season with a three-year contract.

In addition, he will receive a significant amount of money for signing the contract, so his total earnings are projected to reach up to 100 million euros, as reported by Italian sources.

This will make Brozović the highest-paid Croatian athlete in history, surpassing NBA star Bojan Bogdanović, who held the top position for a long time, Sportske novosti said.

In the past few days, Brozović underwent medical examinations, and today he signed the contract. He will team up with Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr earlier this year from Manchester United.

Brozović joined Inter in 2015 and played over 260 games for the club, scoring 25 goals. He has represented Croatia 87 times.

In recent times, the Saudi Arabian league has witnessed the arrivals of several notable players such as Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy.

Al-Nassr has also revealed Nike as their new kit sponsor for the upcoming season.
